Matt n Scott harris, We are brothers and have been for the best part of 30
yrs. After countless dead end jobs varying from bagging potatoes to workin
in a launderette we chose the forbidden path of the Disc
Jockey................
- How long was it before you got ya big break, what was your big break?
suppose it would be in 94 when we landed a residency in our local club
called Madison's in Bournemouth. At the time it was a well established club
pulling in 600 people a night, We got to play alongside Dj's such as
Slipmatt, Cj Bolland, Mrs woods and the late Tony Devit. The club also
helped finance our record shop Atmospheric records RIP! Residencies at other
nights soon followed including The Country Club Destiny @ the manor and Adrenalin.
- What keeps you going?
Total love and devotion for dance music, djing, producing, and all round
partying! Its all we know and have dedicated 15 yrs of our lives to. life
without all of this is a scary prospect and would be as pointless as
suffering from acute erectile dysfunction but having a 12" Shlong!
- How did you get into production and how has this evolved?
It was just a natural progression from Dj'ing into producing, You play
everyone's tunes and think i wonder if i can make music as well, We used to
hire studios back in the days but it was really impossible to have full
creativity. We were paying a fortune for each day we spent and this in turn
made you rush to get the track finished., it wasn't until we set up our own
studio that we really found our feet and musical direction.
- Proudest moment, why?
Well outside of having my kids it would have to be the 1st ever record that
was released with my name on in 1995, i will never forget that buzz. After
collecting records for so long to finally see a piece of vinyl with my name
on was a massive achievement then. The fact that the tune by 2days standards
was the biggest pile of horse shite u ever heard is beyond the point ha!
- Best production, why?
That's a hard one, each tune has so many memories and even tracks that never
made it very big have great sentiments attached. I suppose our best
production would have to be our artist album, it was more than just
compiling a track list from tunes we had made, allot of production time and
effort went in to editing and finalising it.
- What are your thoughts on Tranzaction and the clubbers?
Its a great venue and a great atmosphere, The west country has its own vibe
i reckon compared to up north or say London. Very happy smiley and loud,
just how we like em! We are both originally from truro redruth, We spent a
small part of our childhood there so its great to come back and play in our
once home town. We always get very sentimental about it and usually have a
little cuddle in the hotel room before hand haha!
- What can they expect from your next visit when we will launch our 3.30am opening hours?
Aww that's gonna get messy then! Your just gonna see 2 brothers who love
what they are doing, throwing them selves around acting like complete
idiots! We just try our hardest to please everybody and have as much fun as
we possibly can. We always try to innovate technically and musically and
allot of this is just done spontaneously on the night, Just thought i would
get that in so if we make any major fuck ups we cover our backs hehe!
- Whats coming up for you both as djs and producers?
Production wise we have our new single out on Tidy called Turntablism, A
hybrid techno\hard dance banger that is set to be our 1 of our biggest tracks
to date. We are over the moon with the support it has gained on radio 1 and thank
everyone for that. next year a new album is on the horizon. Dj'in, well we are
flat out up and down the country till december when we embark on our 5th world tour
through south Africa, Australia and then to China for NYE which is going to
be insane!! bring it on!
