Disco Brothers - Interview.

Individual DJ Backgrounds: Always Dj'd together since 1994

How did you two meet?

We went to school in Kent together at the age of 13 and proceeded to be best friends and
getting into djing together.

Are there ever any conflicts / fall-outs between you?

Never had a big fallout over anything just small ones like "who left the f**king headphones
at home?" or when were knackered the conversations can be a tad short.

How do your sets as a duo work?

back to back tunes so we have time to fit in a quick beer between mixes.

For clubbers who haven't heard or seen you, describe a typical Disco Brothers set?

We play uplifting tech-trance which means that we blend techno and tough uplifting trance
together allowing us to take the clubbers on a journey during our set. We like to
experiment with the playing allot of different
techno groove elements, which is also a big part of our productions.

The production side of your career has really taken off, how did you get into production,
and which do you enjoy more?

We love making records the same as Djing at the clubs. We got into production around 3
years ago and have delivered half a dozen singles and remixes for the likes of Nulife,
Sony, Tropoli Trax and Nukleuz. We have our own distinct tech-trance sound that is getting us recognized around the world as a result of our hard work in the studio.

How has this year been for you? Both on the DJ and Production side (highs and lows)?

On the Djing side the biggest high this year was our international profile has really kicked off as we have been residents at Tonic in Ibiza and played in USA, Greece, Iceland, Turkey and Switzerland. The highlight of the summer was playing at the Swiss Love Parade in Zurich along with the 900,000 clubbers that attended and then playing at the 25,000 Energy Festival arena alongside Paul Van Dyk and Tomcraft. Absolutely crazy!!

On the production side our continued develop of our sound has led us to have our records
played by Paul Van Dyk, Fergie, Judge Jules, Armin Van Burren and Marco V to name but a
few and featuring on Fergie's Radio 1 show in April with our single The Sound. Another highlight is being asked personally by Dave Pearce to remix the new Ian Van Dahl - I Cant Let You Go track that is out in October on Nulife. We have just started a weekly feature and regular guest mixes on Paul Kershaw's Galaxy Radio networked show across the UK where you can find us announcing our tune of the week and tales of clubland.

On the down side the only thing we have suffered from is that we have been knackered from
travelling and studio work all summer so I guess that we will have to get used to that as
everything seems to be even more mental for us even though we have just returned from a 2 week summer holiday!!!

You've played in the South West many times, how does our scene compare with the rest of
the UK and which nights do you feel are leading the way?

The SW scene is still very underground compared to the rest of the UK scene so we get to
play a bit tougher and more techno tracks when we come down. We mainly only play for Slinky,
Dance Academy and Tranzaction in the SW where we have a long history with each of the clubs
and the clubbers that go down there so its great to get down to those two rocking clubs to
see everyone.

What does the rest of the year hold for the Disco Brothers?

Production wise our Ian Van Dahl remix comes out in October and we have 3 new
Disco Brothers singles ready to go before the end of February so we are really excited
about those coming out. On the gig side in the SW we are looking forward to playing at
Dance Academy on October 25th and back down at Tranzaction in October and then back down at both clubs before the end of the year. For all other dates and info please check our website
