Anne Savage Interview.

Charlie G catches up with the first lady of hard dance ahead of her aperance at the
Tranzaction mid summer ball (Fri 30th July) alongside Yoji Biomehanika and Scot Project.

Describe an average day in the life of Anne Savage?

I get up at 8.30am and check my emails. I do about 2-3 inteviews a week normally on line
and mags/newspapers, but because of my Extreme Euphoria album release, that number has
trebled. I go on my chat forums on my website to say hi and answer any questions 2-3 times
a week www.annesavage.net. My brand new site will be launched this month to coincide with
the album release. There's always a bag to pack/unpack and endless washing. I might go to
the post office and collect the week's tunes and have a listen. I have my M8 column so I'm
always jotting down the day's events in my diary and any juicy gossip I might hear. Or I
could be reviewing tracks for M8 as well. I am on the phone to my manager about 5/6 times
a day when I'm in the country. I mostly go to the studio if I'm working on a track or I
might be at Ministry doing my radio show. It depends on what time of year it is as to how
my day pans out.

How long have you been involved in the scene now, and what do you feel are the reasons for
your continued success?

I've been involved for over 10 years now and have been through a few changes musically.
The great thing about being around for as long as I have is that I'm confident musically
where I am now, people trust me and I can basically play what I want. Production helps, as
long as you're making good tunes people will want to hear you play. Plus I still love dance music as much as I did when I started.

Do you think it has been harder for you as a female in a male dominated industry?
It was hard when I started because there were none around at all hardly. Nowadays there
are far more female djs and it's not such a big deal any more.

You must attract allot of male attention when playing, what's the worst chat up line
you've heard?

'Did you hurt yourself?'
'What?'
'When you fell from heaven' Pleeease!!

So, what would a guy have to do to impress you?

Firstly he'd have to get past my boyfriend. Then be a footballer or something. It's a
cliché but I love fast cars so any Ferrari owners might get a look in

How has 2004 been for you so far, what are your highlights?

My Psychout track hitting the top 20 and getting the Euphoria album out June 21st

As well as producing and DJing what else fills your days and nights?

I love motorbikes, scooters, fast cars and football. Roy Keane is my hero. If I have any
time off I try to go home and see my family.

When and how did you move into production and how do you feel you have progressed?

I had my first track out under the guise of 'Destiny Angel' in 1996. I t was trance. Since
then I'd like to think I've come a long way. I've been really busy in the studio recently
with tons of releases, different styles of hard dance and even a breakbeat track in
progress. I have 3 tracks lined up for Tidy later on in the year, and a few remixes due
out too.

You will be back at Tranzaction in July, how do you feel the south west scene compares
to rest of Country and what's your opinion of Tranzaction?

I love it, even though it takes me 4 and a half hours to get there! Well worth it the
clubbers are always so sweet and really into their hard dance which, obviously, is
brilliant for me!!

Finally:Tune of the moment:

My filthy remix of MagnetMan's 'Wuck U Right'.

DJ of the moment:

Oooh! That's a tricky one, Kutski's made a good impression.

Best Club Night:Tranzaction?

come on that's not fair!
